1985 Vintage Port

1985 was a classic Vintage Year. The weather cycle in the Douro was ideal with adequate rainfall in the early part of the year, good flowering conditions in May followed by a hot summer and a dry Vintage in September.

The general quality of Port was well above average and the top flight 'Quintas' or vineyards produced in their individual way, wines of exceptional quality. 'Churchill's 1985 Vintage Port' blended from three such traditional vineyards is a careful combination of these qualities.

It has plenty of fresh natural acidity which is evident in its lively purple colour and fine stylish aroma. On the palate, it is well balanced with the tannic hardness required for the longevity of a great Vintage Port. Anticipated maturation 2005 to 2020.
