Gricha Vintage Port

  • About

    With its cooler North facing location on the south bank of the river Douro, Quinta da Gricha has produced a spectacular Single Quinta Vintage in 2003.
    The wine is very dark, almost black in colour with a typical Gricha nose of fresh concentrated blueberries. The taste is more one dimensional than the Churchill's Vintage Port blend but there is a soft, luscious mouth-filling flavour of rich berries with excellent natural acidity and tannins.
  • Sourcing

    Quinta da Gricha is located on the South bank of the river Douro between Pinhão and Tua with a North facing aspect. This Vintage Port was sourced from the very old vineyards (av. Age of vines of 50 plus years).
  • Grape Varieties

    A field blend of old vineyards including many grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão.
  • Cellaring Recommendation

    Approachable from 2013, this Port Wine has a Peak drinking condition from 2023 - 2028.
  • Ageing

    During the first six months, the young Port spent the winter months at Quinta da Gricha in our "tonéis" being then brought down to our lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia where it was stored in a stainless steel tank until being bottled.
  • Recommended Serving Temperature

    Serve at room temperature with (18 C)
  • Decanting

    Decant Single Quinta Vintage 2003 Port Wine before serving.
  • Serving Recommendations

    Appreciate on its own after lunch or dinner.

    Our Single Vintage Ports are sourced from very old Vineyards at Quinta da Gricha which is situated in the Cima Corgo Sub Region of the demarcated Douro Region.
    A dark purple colour with concentrated blueberry aromas, rich and full bodied with excellent balance and plenty of grip on the finish, an expressive Single Quinta Vintage Port with typical characteristics of the Quinta da Gricha terroir.

  • Grape Varieties

    A field blend of old vineyards including many grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca e Tinto Cão.
  • Cellaring Recommendation

    Approachable from 2014, Peak drinking condition from 2017 - 2025
  • Ageing

    During the first six months, the young Port spent the winter months at Quinta da Gricha in our tonéis, being then brought down to our lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia where it was stored in a stainless steel tank until being bottled.
  • Recommended Serving Temperature

    Serve at room temperature (18 C)

    An exuberant Port Wine with a distinctive expression of Douro terroir; dark cherry in colour with an aroma of raisins and ripe figs; on the palate fine grained tannins combine with concentrated crushed red berries to give this elegant Port a rich and juicy flavour.
